Mac won't turn on?
No chime, no light, no fan. A Mac that's completely dead usually has one failed part on the power line of the logic board, and your files are still on it.

What to do right now
- Try another charger and outletLeave it on charge for 30 minutes before deciding it's dead.
- Don't let anyone swap the boardOn 2018 and later Macs a new board can't read your old encrypted files.
- Don't open it yourselfBatteries and flex cables are easily damaged, and corrosion is easy to spread.
Common causes
- Shorted capacitorA tiny component on the main power rail fails and pulls the whole rail to ground.
- Power management chipThe chip that hands power to the processor and storage stops working.
- Liquid or corrosionAn old spill, sometimes months earlier, finally corrodes through.
- Charging circuitThe Mac has quietly run its battery flat because it stopped charging.
How we fix it
We measure each power rail, find the failed component with thermal imaging and replace it under the microscope. The Mac boots on its original board, with your files exactly where you left them.
Questions
Before you book
Will I lose my files?
Usually not. In most cases the data is still on the Mac. We recover it before or as part of the repair, and we tell you before doing anything that could affect it.
Are you Apple?
No. We are an independent repair and data recovery workshop with Apple-certified technicians. Unlike a board replacement, our component-level repair keeps your original board and your data.
